John Glenn Middle School SRTS

Bedford, MA
TEC teamed with MassDOT and the Town of Bedford to plan and design 1,980 feet of pedestrian and bicycle safety improvements along Routes 4/62/225 (The Great Road) and Mudge Way. The updated streetscape encourages children to safely walk and bike to the John Glenn Middle School. The design included a new traffic signal to improve pedestrian crossing opportunities, sidewalks, bike lanes, and ADA/AAB accessible curb ramps. Our team also redesigned a multi-use path extending across the property to Bedford High School, providing multi-modal access for high school students.

The multi-use path’s location to nearby historic areas and wetlands posed unique permitting challenges that our team was able to overcome. Construction was completed in the Fall of 2017.
