Middlesex Turnpike Improvements

TEC provided professional engineering and construction management services for the Middlesex Turnpike Transportation Improvement project in the Town of Burlington. Improvements included the reconstruction of over 6,000 feet of roadway along South Avenue, Second Avenue, and the Middlesex Turnpike. The roadway along the Middlesex Turnpike, the I-95 Northbound (NB) Ramps, and Wheeler Road (West) was widened to provide additional capacity at the signalized intersection. The project also included ADA-compliant wheelchair ramps, granite curbing, cement concrete retaining walls, pavement markings, traffic signs, guardrail replacement, a new traffic signal, and modifications to four existing traffic signals.
The primary goal of the project was to construct transportation improvements that would sufficiently support continued economic development and expansion along the Middlesex Turnpike Corridor. On behalf of the town, TEC prepared two MassWorks grant applications through a collaborative effort with town staff and local private developers that were awarded by the Executive Office of Housing and Economic Development (EOHED).
